Chapter 6 Continued

A couple of weeks have passed since Gatsby reunited with Daisy at Nick's house and Nick hasn't even seen Gatsby since then either. One afternoon Nick decides to visit Gatsby at his house and when he gets there he is surprised to see Tom with a few friends. Tom was out riding horses with his friends from East Egg when they stopped at Gatsby's just to tease him and insult him because he lives in West Egg. Nick notices that Tom looks at Gatsby with suspicion because he knows about their past together but does not know that Gatsby is still in love with Daisy.
The next Saturday, Daisy and Tom attend one of Gatsby's parties. Tom is not very interested in the party, he just wants to keep an eye on Daisy making sure that she is never alone with Gatsby. Tom and Daisy get into an argument over where Gatsby's money has come from. Daisy tries to defend Gatsby by saying that his money comes from his drugstore businesses but Tom denies that and believes Gatsby made his money from illegal crime and bootlegging. Daisy is not having a good time and as the night goes on the party gets boring so Daisy and Tom decide to leave early. After they leave Gatsby talks to Nick about his emotions. Gatsby is sad that Daisy did not enjoy his party. Gatsby wants everything to be the way it was in the past. He wants Daisy to leave Tom so they can be together. Nick stops Gatsby's thought and reminds him that he cannot relive the past, however Gatsby argues that he can. Gatsby believes that his wealth and money can win Daisy's affection. Nick leaves the party and recalls the first time that Gatsby kissed Daisy and how Gatsby wants to relive that moment again. Nick believes that Gatsby's dream is over because he is reunited with Daisy but she is not living up to his expectations.
