Character Development

Nick Carraway

Nick Caraway is a young man from Minnesota who moves to West Egg in 1922. he had also fought in world war 1 in 1918. Nick has moved to West Egg to work in the bond business and earn some money. Nick is the narrator of the novel and he describes himself as open minded, a good listener and honest. Nick tells the reader some advice that his father gave him when he was younger. "whenever you feel like criticising anyone, just remember that all the people in the world haven't had the advantages that you've had". This advice means that we should not judge people and to be honest. Despite Nick's judgement of other characters in the novel, I still believe he is an honest man and a trustworthy narrator.
