Character Development

Tom Buchanan

Tom is one of Nick's old friends from college. He is very strong and is also very wealthy. Because of his strength, he used to play on his college football team. Tom is married to Daisy and they live together on East Egg in a big house. Tom is having an affair with a women from New York City and is keeping it a secret from his wife. Tom comes off as a racist because he talks down about coloured people when he describes the book he is reading, "The Rise of The Coloured Empires" by Godard. I believe Tom is a selfish man with a big ego.

Daisy Buchanan

Daisy is Nick's cousin from Louisville Kentucky and is married to Tom. Together Daisy and Tom have a 3 year old daughter who they are raising in East Egg. Nick describes daisy as a beautiful women and says her voice is soft and delicate.

Jordan Baker

Jordan is Daisy's friend who is a professional golfer. Jordan seems shy because she barely talks to Nick during dinner at Daisy's house. She gets bored easily because she rushes off after dinner to get home and sleep for her golf tournament the next day.
