Plot development

Chapter 5

Nick comes home from his date with Jordan that night and talks to Gatsby about the plan. Nick agrees to help Gatsby reunite with Daisy. As a sign of appreciation Gatsby offers Nick an opportunity to make some extra cash by joining his business but  Nick refuses this offer because he does not want to get into organised crime. Nick goes home to call Daisy and arrange a time for tea the next day.
The next day Gatsby is nervous because he does not know if things will be the same between himself and Daisy. When Daisy arrives Nick brings her into the house and finds that Gatsby is not there anymore. He had become so nervous that he walked around the house to calm his nerves. Gatsby walks in and reunites with Daisy. At first it is a bit awkward so Nick leaves to let them catch up on things. When Nick returns he finds them happy and Daisy is crying of joy. Gatsby offers Nick and Daisy to come over to his house so he can give them a tour. When Daisy sees all of Gatsby's luxurious possessions she begins to cry. Gatsby reveals to Daisy that at night he stares at the green light on her dock and thinks about their future together. Gatsby calls his piano player to play some songs for them and at this moment it seems that their romance is rekindled. Gatsby and Daisy are so interested in each other that they forget Nick is even there. Nick quietly leaves the room and lets Gatsby enjoy the night with Daisy alone.
